The Potty Sniffer toilet ventilation system is a patent pending product designed to eliminate embarrassing toilet odor directly at the source. What makes the system so innovative is the approach that it takes to addressing this universal problem that every person has experienced but has not yet been adequately solved.
Some previous attempts have needed customers to implement complex solutions that require modifications to the building construction and bathroom ventilation system of a home along with custom designed toilets requiring special features to be incorporated into the toilet bowl casting or toilet tank hardware. While these solutions do work, the high cost and complexity involved have limited adoption by the market in general.
More manageable solutions often involve the use of replaceable filters, “bolt-on” fan or special toilet seat mechanisms, and some type of rechargeable battery pack. However, these toilet odor filtration systems have also failed to catch on with the general public due to the ongoing maintenance required, lack of durability, and how they interfere with the clean look and aesthetic of the toilet and bathroom design.
The most marketable solution to this problem so far has been through the use of “toilet odor eliminator” chemical products that need to be sprayed into the toilet bowl prior to use in order to suppress or mask the odor. This option requires the product to be made available in the bathroom and poses an ongoing cost and maintenance proposition for the homeowner and there is ongoing debate as to the actual effectiveness of these types of products.
At the end of the day, the current solution for most homeowners is to install a bathroom fan, close the door, declare off-limits to the rest of the family (or not), and let the fan run for the next 20 minutes or until you remember to shut it off. For those without a bathroom fan… the sad acceptance of living the real life.
