JEMSMART just finished participating in our first consumer product show this past weekend at the Novi Home and Garden Show at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, MI. The show ran from Mar 31 – Apr 2 and was our first opportunity to introduce our Potty Sniffer product to the general public and to demonstrate how the system works.
The Potty Sniffer is a toilet odor ventilation system that uses the existing water channels of the toilet bowl and the tank water overflow pipe to extract odors directly from the bowl before it is able to escape into the room. By targeting odors in an enclosed toilet bowl this greatly reduces the amount of air that needs to be exhausted allowing the use of a compact vacuum pump and small diameter tubing to exhaust odors. This makes it very easy to retrofit and install in comparison to a typical exhaust system that requires walls or ceilings to be renovated to install a fan and ductwork. The exhaust tubing can be installed and routed the same way you would run electrical or speaker wire and can then be exhausted into a sink drain or sanitary pipe using tubing saddle vent fittings or exhausted through an exterior wall using a small diameter air pipe fitting. In each case only a small diameter hole needs to be drilled in the pipe or through the wall.
We were able to demonstrate the effectiveness of the system to our visitors using a specially equipped toilet that included a high output water mist generator (normally used for an outdoor pond) located in the toilet bowl to represent odors in the bowl with and without the Sniffer pump in operation. Everyone was impressed and amazed by the Sniffer system in action and the innovativeness of the air exhaust solution. We received a whole slew of positive comments, questions about when we would be on “Shark Tank”, and encouragement to “keep going” because of how much potential there was in the product. We were also able to provide sample kits to several builders and contractors who were at the show that were interested in sharing the product with their customers and to be able to provide the installation service for the kits as another business opportunity.
Even more exciting news! JEMSMART was approached by the show organizers and WJR 760 AM to go on live radio with the “Inside Outside Guys”, which is a popular metro Detroit home improvement/DIY radio show. We were on the main stage at the show with Ken & Chuck to tell our story and introduce listeners to the Potty Sniffer product.
